Help Us Celebrate 40 Years of Music in Knaresborough

We have launched our 40th Anniversary Year Just Giving page to help with some of the events we have planned for this celebratory year.

In 2026, Knaresborough Choral Society turns 40 — and we’re
marking the occasion with some of the biggest, most moving concerts in our history.

For four decades, we’ve brought together singers of all ages and abilities to create high-quality, heartfelt music for our town. Our members are your colleagues and neighbours — and we sing with energy, pride, and a deep love for this community.

To celebrate our anniversary, we’re staging a year of major events, including:

🎶 Haydn’s Creation
A grand joint performance with St Asaph Choral Society and Harrogate Philharmonic Orchestra at Ripon Cathedral, 23 May 2026.

🎶 Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man
A powerful and moving piece reflecting on war and peace — performed for the first time in Knaresborough at Holy Trinity Church, 28 November 2026. We’ll be inviting local
service members and military charities to share in this unforgettable evening.

These large-scale performances involve professional musicians and come with significant costs — and that’s where your support makes a real difference.

For example:
£5 hires music for someone
£50 pays for an accompanist for a rehearsal
£75 pays for a musician in an orchestra
£5 monthly goes towards the cost of the rehearsal venue or helps someone struggling to pay subs
but any amount is appreciated and will go towards sustaining the future of KCS.
